Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program

WIC gives the most vulnerable children the best possible start by providing optimal nutrition during the critical stages of development. The program provides nutritional education for mothers and expectant mothers. WIC also provides screening for anemia and assistance with the purchase of infant formula, milk and cereal for infants and children, as well as juices and cheese for pregnant women, nursing mothers and infants and children to the age of five years of age.

The benefits of participating in the WIC Nutrition Program are the reduction of premature births, the fetal death rate and low birth weights. Long-term medical expenses also have also been reduced.
